Terms of service
Last updated October 21, 2026. These terms are a practical MVP. Have counsel review them before you take live payments.
LocaleDrop sells prepaid translation credits for software localization files. One credit pays for one source file translated into one target language. A run that only reuses an unchanged translation does not spend a credit. There is no user account. The API key delivered to the email you enter is the credential.
Payments
Card payments are processed by Stripe. When Managed Payments is enabled, Stripe is the merchant of record for that sale and may add tax to the list price. USDC payments use Stripe’s stablecoin checkout and settle to the business in USD. Bitcoin payments are invoices on the operator’s BTCPay Server. Native ETH and SOL are not offered. Credits are added after the processor confirms the payment. For Bitcoin, that confirmation is invoice settlement, not the first sight of a transaction.
Unused credits can be refunded within 14 days of purchase if none of the credits from that purchase have been spent. Write to hello@localedrop.dev from the same email. Spent credits are not refunded because the translation has already been performed. Mock checkout, shown clearly when processor keys are absent, does not move money.
The translation
Output is machine translation checked for placeholder, tag, and ICU token parity. It is not a substitute for a review by someone who knows the product. If a string still fails the check after retries, LocaleDrop keeps the source text and reports the row. You are responsible for what you ship to your users.
Acceptable use
Do not upload content you do not have the right to send to a translation provider, and do not use the service to break the law. We may refuse a key that is being used to attack the service. API keys are secrets. You are responsible for a translation made with your key.
Liability
The service is provided as available. To the extent the law allows, liability for a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for the credits at issue. Some places do not allow that limit. In those places, the limit applies as far as it can.
